Find out how to use nutrition for addiction recovery here: http://truthofaddiction.com/ What do we do most often when we feel a craving coming on? We react in a panic. We either give in or try to suppress it. But suppressing urges only makes them stronger. And the reason is this. The limbic system is very strong. It is denser than other brain structures, which allows a lot more signal transmission. This limbic system enabled life on earth to survive for millions of years. The limbic system has even been found in anthropoids, invertebrate phyla and mollusks. It developed before rational thought was even upon this earth! Our ancient ancestors survived because they were rewarded by this limbic system, otherwise known as the limbic “reward” system. They were “rewarded” by engaging in behaviors, such as eating and sex. But today our brains aren’t designed to deal with such ready to access rewards. Pornography, cigarettes, Alcohol and pharmacological drugs overstimulate this reward center. They do not help us to survive and in fact may be killing us! The truth of the matter is, that our addictions become hard-wired in a survival process. To some, an addiction becomes a part of life - just as eating or sleeping… But the good news is that the truth of Addiction program has instantly downloadable videos and audio training materials that show you step-by-step how to react to cravings and urges in a different way then you did in the past. Responding differently, changes your brain. When you start responding differently to urges than you did in the past, the connections between neurons become weak and a whole new set of thought patterns and behaviors can be created. When this happens, the thoughts would stop. The urges would stop. The need would stop. And the behavior will shortly follow. And that is a great feeling… Let me introduce you to A. Scott Roberts, the founder and creator of this program. He earned his master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling. He is a certified rehabilitation counselor. He is an author and speaker and has participated in delayed discounting research running human participants. He helps people all over the world to beat their addiction, long-term. His program has reached people in over 20 countries. So you might be wondering where do I start? The first step is to feed the brain with targeted nutrients. The reason is this. The addicted brain has depleted and malfunctioning neurotransmitters caused by the weeks, months or years of overstimulating the brain’s reward center. But by taking targeted nutrients, it replenishes this deficiency. In one interesting study, rats were given the option of choosing a bowl of water or a bowl of alcohol to drink from. When the rats had certain nutrients in their diet, they didn’t touch the alcohol, but when they lacked certain nutrients, the animals chose alcohol over the water every single time. As soon as nutrients were restored to the animals, they avoided the alcohol completely. Researchers were able to shift consumption of the alcohol over the water by the deliberate increase or decrease of certain nutrients in their diet! And yes, research shows that humans are wired the same way. There are over 100 studies at MIT and Harvard that support the use of using key nutrients to increase neurotransmitter activity in the brain to eliminate anxiety, depression and cravings. Dr Grant, the Medical Director at Tully Hill Hospital reported an 83 percent success rate in ending addiction amongst his patients by using key nutrients. Joan Matthews Larson, Ph.D, conducted a study examining 100 alcoholic patients and focused on restoring the biochemical imbalance in the brain using key nutrients. 85 percent of participants stayed abstinent for 42 months. That’s huge compared to conventional methods. The reason that using key nutrients in recovery is so successful, is because neurotransmitters in the brain are synthesized from nutrition. When you feed your brain with adequate amounts of targeted nutrients it increases dopamine and other neurotransmitters, so that you can feel better naturally. The Truth of Addiction program includes an ebook and video titled “Nutrition for Improved Recovery”. This will show you step-by-step the key nutrients to take. Once you start taking these targeted nutrients, you may also notice your cravings immediately decrease. You may also notice your withdrawal symptoms are diminishing. Now, keep in mind, if you have had years of heavy alcohol or drug abuse, you need to seek a medical professional. Coming off alcohol or heavy drugs can be dangerous, but the Truth of Addiction system can be used with any program, once you are stabilized, using these techniques will help you achieve long-term success. HEADLINE: Opium takes over Afghan families, villages CAPTION: In dozens of remotes villages in Afghanistan, opium addiction has become so entrenched that whole families are addicts. The American government and the United Nations estimate the addiction rate in Afghanistan is 75% higher than in the U.S. (Aug 10) [Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] [Notes:Dateline: Badakhshan Province, Afghanistan] Khanim Gul (KAH-neem GOOL) blows smoke in her baby's mouth ... Her sister does the same to her son... All of them are opium addicts. [Notes:NATS UP (Dari), Khanim Gul, drug addict] These Afghan women say it's to help their children sleep better ... The entire family is huddled around the burning opium pipe ... They're just a few of the estimated two-hundred-thousand drug users in Afghanistan ... To put that in perspective ... the American government and the United Nations say the addiction rates here are 75-percent higher than in the U-S ... Afghanistan supplies nearly all the world's opium ... the raw ingredient for heroin... And the number of addicts in the country is expected to go up. [Notes:NATS up (Dari) Jan Begum, drug addict] Residents in these remote villages say there's no medicine .... And opium is the only way they know how to cope. But their addiction quickly becomes a vicious downward spiral into poverty. [Notes:NATS up (Dari), Islam Beg, drug addict] Islam Beg says he's lost everything to opium... Like many Afghanis .. Heroin Addiction Treatment Website: http://truthofaddiction.com/special/ Maybe you're looking for these topics: Heroin addiction treatment, heroin addict, heroin addiction explained, heroin addiction recovery, heroin addiction withdrawal, heroin addiction intervention, heroin addiction story, heroin addict behavior 95 percent of treatment centers in the United states use methods that contradict evidence. People addicted to opiods or heroin, usually enter an expensive detox center that keeps them for a few days. After detox, part of the heroin addicts recovery usually includes a basic 12 step program. However, several studies reveal that 12 step programs have around a 3 to 15 % percent success rate, depending on which study you look at. Professionals know that addicts can be in and out of rehabs over 10 times. The research is clear. The acute treatment of addiction produces very low success rates. So what is the best heroin addiction treatment? The best thing to do is to use methods that are supported by science, evidence and research. Using elements of mindful meditation and certain behavioral and cognitive training techniques have been shown by studies to reduce the frequency and intensity of cravings, relapse and withdrawal symptoms. But these methods are rarely used and seldom talked about. You cant make money off of these methods anyone can have access to it and anyone can do it. Addiction, especially heroin addiction affects many areas of life. So using a multidimensional approach to treatment is most successful. Did you know that integrating certain nutrients into an addicts diet has shown a near 92 percent success rate? This is because addiction is a biochemical problem. Addiction depletes neurotransmitters (or natural chemicals) in the brain. It also throws off the homeostatic state of the brain. But neurotransmitters are synthesized by nutrients. Heroin is a class of drugs called opioids. This class of drugs also include morphine, codeine and methadone. The primary neurotransmitter affected are the endorphins which are the brains natural pain killing compounds. What heroin does is artificially stimulates the Endorphin receptors within the brain. This results in the brain sending a false signal that there are plenty of endorphins and that the brain's requirements for protein is satisfied. This is why many heroin addicts loose weight, they do not aware of when they need to eat. Research shows that they become nutritionally deficient because of this. Because heroin affects the production of the body's natural neurotransmitters that kill pain, this can lead to long-term pain because the brain reacts in a defensive way to the spike of neurotransmitters from the long-term use of heroin. But the brain is malleable. It can change and rewire. Certain cognitive techniques have shown to change the brain. Website: http://truthofaddiction.com/special/ YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/TruthOfAddiction1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheOfficialTruthOfAddiction Okay so next time your are having a craving. Instead of acting out on it. Observe the craving. Put the spot light on it. What does it feel like. Analyze it. You may start to notice once you consciously become aware of it and analyze it, it starts to fade. Realize that it is a false message sent from the brain. Then redirect your attention to something else. In the truth of addiction program, this methods is discussed in much more detail. But basically, learning how to change the relationship you have with your cravings, or urges or intrusive thoughts, the more your brain starts to rewire and the cravings dissipate. No matter how many cravings. You are in control. Heroin Addiction Treatment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1KXB-392QY

Witnessing the degradation and deterioration of a drug abuser whose addiction has taken its toll offers a first-hand perspective on just how powerless certain people are against the potent sway of heavy drugs, not to mention the toll that they take on the body. In 2014, drug treatment assistance website Rehabs.com put together a graphic, stunning compilation of photos that captured the physical regression of chronic drug abusers through their head shots. This rather pointed effort, which gathered the mug shots of those arrested multiple times for drug- and/or drug-related offenses, served to highlight the potentially catastrophic health effects of drug abuse in a raw, visceral and impactful manner. Physical changes seen through these images include skin lesions, decayed or missing teeth, open sores and premature aging, among other noticeable symptoms. It is important to note that not all of the deterioration and facial change seen within these people is necessarily the cause of drug use, but illicit substances have surely assumed at least some responsibility for the visible toll taken on these 10 individuals. The Rehabs.com webpage aimed to serve as a source of education and inspiration, not only for those who came upon it but also for the addicts featured on the site. Lest anyone feel that the images are being used to shame, embarrass or exploit those in need of help, the website includes a disclaimer that not only invites users to request the removal of their photo, but also offers financial assistance for those seeking treatment. It also acknowledges that the images shown represent only the most extreme cases of drug abuse, but makes sure to mention that those featured in the images likely never anticipated such a slippery slope towards extreme addiction. The statistics on drug abuse are pretty stunning. In 2013, over 24 million people reported that they had taken illicit drugs or abused prescription medication in just the past month alone. One year earlier, more than 1.7 million people had been admitted into treatment programs for substance abuse. While certainly representing a staggering number, that doesn’t address the vast majority of drug users in need of help. And although statistics can be impactful in their own right, the personal cost of drug abuse is probably best represented in the faces of those most affected by it. Different drugs carry their own common side effects. Meth is known to cause facial wasting and open sores, cocaine can be an appetite suppressant and lead to weight loss, ecstasy often causes teeth grinding and even marijuana can age and pale the skin over time with excessive use. But even more than the symptoms of any one drug, the most damaging impact of substance abuse might be the mental side of the addiction, where recreating that high becomes a driving force in the addict’s life and leads to self-neglect. These 10 addicts wear the heavy cost of their drug abuse on their faces, plain for anyone to see.
